WEEK 37 - Ainhoa Merino

ARTS AND CRAFTS

This week has been about immersing ourselves in the world of crafts. It has been about immersing ourselves.

It has been to immerse ourselves in our little selves. It has been to immerse ourselves in our past and put ourselves in the shoes of our students. Honestly, I found it very interesting to be able to touch different materials and to be able to express with them different things that came directly from within us. At the end of the day that is the power that gives us the ability to transform different materials into other things that we can talk to without saying a word.

At first I felt a bit lost, because I didn't know where to start, I didn't know the material, and I didn't know what I had or what I could create from the material I had in my hands. That's why I decided to roll the dice and create what destiny had for me. First, as you can see in the image, I created a jellyfish. As you can see in the stop motion, it and its twin sister have the power to turn to stone here in the eyes directly. Next is a little angel with one big eye and thousands of eyes all over her body. It's as if it were the guardian angel, there are many people because it has 1000 eyes to keep an eye on everyone.

Finally and following with the potato, I decided to create a cactus, reflecting me a little bit in it. Because I think that on the outside I can look like something that can do "harm" in some way but inside it has its fruit, or something sweet.

In addition to all this, I honestly believe it is essential to put ourselves in the shoes of our future students, because it cannot be any other way. First we have to live in our own skin and feel what our little students are going to feel in order to be able to transmit or do these activities with them. To finish with, I sincerely believe that that we don't give enough importance, or the importance it deserves to the use of puppets, and as  Zuljevic (2005) says: no matter what culture children belong to or what language they speak, they play with puppets freely, using their hands, thoughts, language, and feelings, and they develop lasting friendships that are beneficial to their further development.
