CLASS PLANING, ¿A FUNDAMENTAL TASK IN TEACHING WORK?
I found an interesting article on the Internet which talks about the importance of teacher planning and preparation of lessons. It is called: “Class planning; a fundamental task in teaching work” by Juan Reyes-Salvador, September 2016.
After reading it, I would like to highlight several comments from which conclusions and reflections can be drawn:
- “The process of class preparation is an essential task and condition for teachers. It is essential to dedicate the necessary time to this process as the success or failure of the teaching-learning process will depend on it.”
- “The objectives must be considered as the transversal axis of the class and the class must be articulated taking into account the contents, methods and procedures, resources and didactic means, the forms of organisation and the evaluation criteria respectively.”
- “Among the main weaknesses of lesson planning, the following stand out: Improvisation in the direction of the teaching-learning process, etc.”
In this case, the author defends the preparation and planning of classes by the teacher and is not in favour of improvisation.
I have chosen this article because it has a different view to those who defend improvisation as a pedagogical resource, as we have been seeing during the week.
In my opinion, I think improvisation is fine and a teacher should have resources for those moments when an activity is not going well or is not possible to carry out. However, I think it is not a method to always base lessons on. For me it is very important the planning and preparation of the week (activities, resources, methodologies...).
